A non-profit group created during COVID-19 to connect seniors to volunteers for meal or grocery and medication delivery and to connect to resources.

This is a document that shows Meals on Wheels programs by zip codeThe service provides hot meals five days a week, delivered by a person. Most programs charge a nominal fee.

Every Table subscription meal delivery: https://www.everytable.com/

This service provides reasonably priced nutritious and delicious meals (around $7 per dish). Includes salads, wraps and meals that are to be heated, as well as breakfast items.

Resources Related to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease

Educational information on caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease, including support groups for caregivers.

Alzheimer’s Los Angeles: https://www.alzheimersla.org

Provides information about local support groups for caregivers and individuals in early stages of dementia as well as educational programs and caregiver support and resources. Includes local help line:  844-435-7259. During COVID-19, provides suggestions for at-home activities.

Activities and Services

 OPICA Adult Day Program & Counseling Center: www.opica.org

Full-day programs for people with dementia including art, music and brain training for early stage dementia (for a daily fee). They also offer counseling to caregivers and caregiver support groups. During COVID-19, they offer a series of hour-long virtual programs on zoom.

WISE and Healthy Aging https://www.wiseandhealthyaging.org/

A senior community resource located in Santa Monica. Services include an Adult Day Service program for people with dementia, socialization programs and activities, caregiver support groups, educational seminars, and meals. Most activities are virtual during COVID – call for details: 310-394-9871.

A large and comprehensive senior center offering meals, recreation (dancing, movies, exercise), intellectual stimulation (language courses) and connection to Culver City resources for seniors. Non-residents pay a nominal fee to participate. Note:  During COVID-19 services are limited – call 310-253-6650 for updates.

Aging Life Care Association (ALCA): www.aginlifecare.org

ALCA is the national governing body for Aging Life Care professionals (also called Geriatric Care Managers). It provides advocacy for the profession as well as CEUs required for those certified as a care manager. The site also provides a search-by-zipcode feature to find a care manager in any US location. Senior Care Navigator LA employees are enthusiastic members.

Daily money managers help busy people with paperwork from organizing and sorting mail to assisting with automating bill paying. You can find a local daily money manager through their national organization’s website.

 National Academy of Elder Law Attorneyshttps://www.naela.org/

This website provides information about its members and how elder law can help aging adults and their families in a variety of ways, including capacity documentation and estates and trusts. The site also has a feature for finding a lawyer in your area.

Resources for Low-Income Individuals (services available to everyone but at low- or no-cost)

Jewish Family Service LA: https://www.jfsla.org/

A non-profit organization that serves the LA area, providing resources for all ages including seniors. JFSLA provides Holocaust Survivor services, case management, communal dining in locations around the city, home delivered meals and activities.  Note: At this time all services are online – check website for updates.

Buena Vida Adult Day Health Care:  https://www.buenavidaadhc.com/

Provides services for seniors all day, including meals, activities, physical and occupational therapies. Also provides door to door transportation.  Accepts Medi-Cal. Note: During COVID-19 services are limited so call for information: 213-250-9191.

A 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping lower-income seniors in LA access caregiving resources and placement to assisted living or board and care (and other resources).

MAPS (Marketing and Admission Professionals for Seniors) brings together professionals who service LA’s senior population for monthly education and networking. Member donations provide funds for grants made to seniors for temporary financial need.
